You might be wondering…

Why should I be required to take PE at The University of Georgia?  This is a common question among many UGA students.

The University of Georgia has a tripartite mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Through the PEDB courses, we believe that we are not only teaching you, but also that your education and understanding of physical activity will serve as a hub of knowledge for those around you in the State of Georgia and the United States – ultimately to combat the obesity epidemic.

Let’s take a glance at the PEDB Program Philosophy:

“…to promote lifelong physical activity and fitness for the enhancement of health and well-being.”

Motivation to increase physical activity and fitness can be enhanced by incorporating knowledge about fitness into activity classes. This module, RELEVANCE, will provide you details concerning important factors that could influence one’s motivation to being active:

1. Cost
2. Obesity
3. Health Benefits
4. Engagement
Upon completion of all sub-modules, you will complete the Relevance quiz.

In addition to PEDB courses, we invite you to explore UGA’s Obesity Initiative.
