5. Compound Exercises

A compound lift is a strength exercise that engages multiple muscle groups at one time. A good example of a compound lift is a squat as this works your quadriceps, glutes, and calves. Some of the additional benefits of compound lifting include time efficiency, increasing the heart rate, and gaining more muscle mass.
