Heart Rate Monitor

Heart rate is a good measure of exercise intensity. It is a good idea when you are starting your walking program to vary your intensity. A heart rate monitor is a great tool for this. With the advancement in technology, there are now a variety of heart rate monitors available for purchase. Below is a brief overview of some of the devices available, however it is encouraged to explore these options, as well as others, if you are looking to purchase one.

Fitbit provides a variety of smart watches and heart rate trackers that measure heart rate, number of steps taken, and quality of sleep to name a few. It also comes with the Fitbit App, which provides a customized dashboard for each individual, where you can connect with friends and track nutrition. Apple Watch is also a smart watch that has the ability to track physical activity and heart rate. It utilizes the Activity App and the Health App to provide information such as number of steps, distance walked, flights climbed, standing time, calorie expenditure, and heart rate. Polar provides a variety of fitness products, such as heart rate monitors, fitness trackers, and GPS tracking. Most notably, the Polar H10 Heart Rate Sensor Strap is a popular chest strap that also allows an individual to swim with it on. The Polar Ignite is also another accurate smart watch option available.
