Glossary of Terms

Body Max Index (BMI): a measure of body fat based on height and weight.

Environmental Wellness: an individual’s relationship to their surroundings.

Financial Wellness: involves an individual relationship with money. 

Habit:  a recurring behavior that is triggered by a specific context and requires less conscious thought and repetition to make it happen.

Physical Wellness: encourages the balance of regular physical activity, building healthy eating habits, and maintaining a healthy weight.

Emotional Wellness: an individual’s ability to manage stress, control emotions, and sustain a positive attitude towards life.

Intellectual Wellness: an individual actively participating in expanding their knowledge and skills.

Occupational Wellness: the ability of an individual to achieve personal fulfillment and satisfaction in their work.

Social Wellness: focuses on creating connections with others, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and being involved within the community.

Spiritual Wellness: the exploration of an individual to find meaning and purpose in one’s life.

Wellness: being in a state of optimal physical, emotional and social well-being.
