4. Application Assignments
Free
- Using an app, video your own bowling approach and release, then analyze it. Submit: a report of your analysis and screenshots of your analysis in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
- Create a series of pictures or a (short) instructional video that could be beneficial to be added to the ACTIVITY course content. >Submit: pictures or a video in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
- Form small groups (maybe 2 or 3 students each) to develop a 3 – 5 minute oral report on some bowling related topic. The group would schedule a time with the instructor prior to the 10th week of classes to deliver the presentation to the class. Suggested topics could include but not be limited to: Lane Courtesy, Scoring, Discuss the Four-Step Approach, What is the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), What is the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA), How are Averages and Handicaps calculated and used in league play. Submit: an outline and resources of the presentation in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC).
- Attend a regular league bowling session and log some of the fundamental movements/strategies used. Submit: a picture and reflection in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
- Participate or volunteer in a league/team bowling practice or competition. >Submit: a picture and screenshot of the team roster or supervisor in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
- Observe conditioning of the bowling lanes (schedule of conditioning will be posted at Showtime bowling) >Submit: a picture and a paragraph impression in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
Charged
- Participation in a league competition.
Showtime bowling will develop a short term league running for three weeks specifically for students to join and compete. It will consist of at least two person teams (team makeup and number of teams will be determined by the number of students signing up), will bowl on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM, will bowl a three game series each week, cost will be $6.00 total including free use of rental shoes.
Submit: a picture of yourself and a copy/picture of your registration in the Application Assignment Dropbox (eLC)
Additional course-related opportunities need approval and can be proposed to the instructor.
